19 December 2017, - Petaling Jaya In the spirit of Christmas, FireFly Airlines together with Tesco Malaysia played host to a group of 70 single mothers and their children at Tesco Mutiara Damansara today.
The mothers with their children aged between 9 to 12 years old from the Selangor Single Mothers Association in Kuala Selangor were treated to a funfilled afternoon themed ‘Christmas Treats with Single Mothers & Kids’.
FireFly Airlines and Tesco Malaysia joined hands in treating each family with RM200 Tesco shopping vouchers together with goodie bags. The mothers and their children were given about almost 2 hours to shop items they needed and desired.
It was a heart-warming sight to see the happiness mirrored in the children’s faces when they picked their favourite items such as chocolates, soft-toys, stationary items and many more, whilst the mothers were seen to be getting their hands-on grocery items like sardine cans, bread, cooking oil and rice bags amongst other household items.
“We strongly believe in giving back to the community. No matter how tough we think our lives are, there’s always someone who has to face challenges that are even tougher than ours. The biggest and sole reward is the realization that we have made a significant change in someone’s life. Even if not “significant" then the least could be a positive change nevertheless”, shared FireFly CEO, Ignatius Ong.
Jida Mohamed, the Head of Communications & CSR, Tesco Malaysia said. “We are happy to co-host this event with FireFly Airlines for the first time as we share common values of giving back to the community. We believe that every little help can make a big difference especially to this group of single mothers.
