Kuala Lumpur, 22 December – “THE GOLDFINGER” trio comprising of legendary actor Tony Leung, director cum writer Felix Chong and producer Ronald Wong was here to promote their latest crime blockbuster. Members of the media and fans alike who swarmed the venues were thrilled to get a glimpse of the trio amid the bustling holiday season.
The trio who travelled from Singapore, was here for a string of promotional events which included the press conference and media interviews held at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur. They were in good spirits responding to the media on the making of their latest crime blockbuster and their collaboration in the project.
The trio also graced “THE GOLDFINGER” gala premiere red carpet event held at KL’s newly opened, poshest and dynamic lifestyle mall The Exchange TRX. Fans were thrilled in grabbing a good spot along the glamourous 300-metre red carpet to witness the grandeur of the event.
The trio who arrived in a fleet of luxurious vehicle made a brief appearance at the drop-off area and made their way to the remarkable grand staircase. They then moved on to the ultraprestigious, soon-to-be launched Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX for the movie’s gala premiere screening.
“THE GOLDFINGER” which is directed and written by Felix Chong, produced by Ronald Wong, and features a stellar cast including Tony Leung, Andy Lau, Charlene Choi, Simon Yam, Alex Fong, Philip Keung, Chin Ka Lok, Carlos Chan, Catherine Chau, Michael Ning and Tai Bo, is scheduled for release here on 30 December 2023.
The movie is inspired by a real-life financial fraud in Hong Kong that shocked the world in the 1980s. It tells the story of the rise and bust of a giant conglomerate Carmen Enterprises, following the travails of its chairman Ching Yat Yin (Tony Leung) through 15 years of investigations by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) headed by Senior Principal Investigator Lau Kai Yuen (Andy Lau) as murders are committed, billions in market value evaporate and millions are spent on litigation fees.
Tony Leung and Andy Lau are both Asia’s most successful and recognized actors. “THE GOLDFINGER” marks Tony Leung’s reunion with Andy Lau after a 21-year hiatus since Inferna Affairs, where both actors take a switch in their roles, playing a corrupted billionaire and a determined investigator respectively. It is one of the most anticipated Chinese blockbusters of recent times with intense story, thrills and action.
